Entry-level Android phones are itel’s forte, and they are both targeting that segment of the market. Perhaps the great difference between them is the design. One has thin bezels and a water drop notch, while the other has thicker bezels in an old-school design. Traditionally, the A-series are the brand’s lowest range, while the P-series are for phones with long battery life. With that in mind, let’s see how the itel A58 and P17 square up against one another. Surely, there has to be other differences.
itel A58 vs itel P17 comparison table
As already mentioned earlier, the most glaring visual difference between the two devices is the design. If you like your phones looking trendy, you will immediately prefer the looks of itel A58. The P17 looks like something that someone went to bring up from the past. Perhaps we might find other reasons to like it.
There is also a massive difference in the size of their display: the A58 has a 6.6-inch screen, while the P17 has a 5.45-inch screen. I am guessing that the smaller screen of the P17 was implemented to help produce much better battery life, since it has only a 4000mAh battery.
Software-wise, both handsets run Android 11 (Go Edition), expectedly. With both managing just 1 GB of RAM, Android Go Edition is the sensible choice, as it is optimized to make things run smoother on devices with low resources.
In terms of processing power, performance, and storage, the two phones are similar. They also have the same amount of RAM and built-in storage memory. Likewise, they both have a memory card slot, so you can expand the storage for more files.
On the selfie side, the A58 has a 5-megapixel snapper in front, while the P17 has a 2-megapixel lens. At the back, A58 has a 5-megapixel dual camera, while P17 has a single 5-megapixel lens. We know that megapixel counts are not the alpha and omega of camera phone quality. But, if you consider how itel has squeezed in smaller features and specs in the P17, it is safe to say that the cameras of the A58 are likely better.
Both devices have the same battery capacity and charging standard. But with the P17 having a much smaller display, the battery will likely hold out for much longer. They are also both 3G smartphones. You will not get 4G access on these babies. If you want 4G, have a look at their respective Pro variants.
itel A58 vs itel P17: Conclusion
At the end of the day, itel A58 trumps itel P17 in the design stakes, and in pretty much everything else, except battery life. And that makes sense. The P17 is a “Power” model, after all. Lastly, we must look at the prices. itel A58 costs N40,000. For some reason, itel Mobile has been quiet about some specs of the P17, as well as about the price. I am not sure why the company are hoarding information. But we have heard from a retailer that the P17 Pro will sell for ₦40,000, so it is safe to expect the regular P17 to sell for around ₦36,000. Again, that fits in with everything we have seen in our comparison. itel A58 is the more capable smartphone, and also the more expensive. This is a plot twist, though: I was expecting the A58 to be the less capable and more affordable smartphone. Is itel Mobile changing the ranking of their different series?
