Well most people did not buy this idea, but YouTube stuck to it’s gun for quite a while, and now it has finally decided to let go. The reason for this decision after a period of 10 years, a YouTube spokesperson said, is “because its platform has become so massive that it is impossible to encapsulate its vastness and diversity within a minutes-long compilation.” So what was meant is that, a few minute long video would not be able to cover a whole year of content on YouTube.
Will There Be A Replacement To YouTube Rewind?
The answer is a resounding no. The company already has a lot on its hand with regards in the form of making YouTube Shorts and YouTube Premium even better. But the spokesperson went on to say that “It’ll continue to be inspiring to see the myriad of ways the most creative content producers in the world – our YouTube creators – encapsulate the end of the year in their video recaps, as YouTube retires its own Rewind video.” So the ball is now in the court of the content creators out there to draw attention to their content in unique ways.
